VoIP FAQ

What is VoIP?

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) enables telephone calls over the Internet, rather than over traditional analogue phone lines.

What’s the difference between analogue and VoIP?

Analogue telephones connect over copper wires, and VoIP phones use your broadband connection to make calls over the Internet.

Can I call or receive calls from analogue landline phones or mobile phones?

Yes. VoIP connects to the main network via the Internet and is fully integrated with analogue and mobile networks. On a practical level, you or your customers won’t know the difference.

What is hosted VoIP telephony?

Hosted VoIP telephony is a solution that does not involve any onsite PBX equipment. Your handsets connect remotely to your Internet Telephony Service Provider (ITSP) VoIP servers via the Internet, so all you need is a VoIP phone and an Internet connection.

Is Globanet IT Innovations a hosted VoIP supplier?

Yes. You do not need any onsite PBX equipment for your system to work. Some businesses prefer using their legacy PBX (Private Branch Exchange) equipment, in that case we would use a SIP trunk to enable access to our service.
